How long does Srinagar to Gulmarg take?

Count on about two hours in the seat, plus whatever Tangmarg adds. The road is fine until the town below Gulmarg, then it narrows and day-trip traffic stacks. We leave Srinagar early when you want Phase 1 of the gondola before the queue builds. With children, that early start is worth it. A noon departure often means a tired queue and a late return.

In winter, ask us the evening before. Snow does not always close the road, but it does change how fast we drive the last stretch.

Sedan, SUV, Innova or Tempo for Gulmarg?

A sedan is enough for two people who pack light. A family with coats, a picnic and a day bag each should take an Innova or a similar SUV. Two families come in a Tempo Traveller. The meadow road is the reason we do not like an overloaded small car.

4. You get the driver's number. Pickup is from the hotel, the houseboat ghat, or our Boulevard Road office at Ghat No. 7.
