Paragliding

Tandem paragliding in Kashmir means flying strapped to a licensed pilot, so you need no training at all. Flights depend on the wind, the season and which operators are licensed that year.

Tandem paragliding in Kashmir means flying strapped to a licensed pilot, so you need no training at all. Flights depend on the wind, the season and which operators are licensed that year.

Where the flights happen

Tandem operators have flown from the hills near Srinagar, and in some seasons from sites around Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Which sites are active changes from year to year. Ask us before you plan a flight and we will find out which licensed operator is flying for your dates, so you do not drive to a hillside where nobody is flying.

What a tandem flight is like

You wear a harness clipped to the pilot, take a few running steps, and you are off. The flight lasts from a few minutes to around a quarter of an hour, depending on the air that day. You come down in an open field. Wear trainers with a good grip and bring a light jacket, because it is cooler up there. Photos or video from the pilot's camera usually cost extra.

Season and weather

The usual window runs from late spring to early autumn. Mornings are often calmer. Rain, low cloud or strong wind cancel flights, sometimes at the last minute. That is a good thing. It is why we plan the flight on a Srinagar day with nothing else fixed, not on a day when you have a long drive.

Age, weight and health

  • Operators set minimum age and weight limits. Children need a parent's consent and usually a minimum weight.
  • There is an upper weight limit for the harness too. Ask before you book.
  • Skip it if you are pregnant or have a heart or back condition.
  • Flights are paid to the operator and are not part of any package price.

Ask our Srinagar team to add Paragliding to any Kashmir package. Some activities are seasonal, so tell us your month.

You do not fly that day. Ask the operator how they handle a cancelled slot before you pay, and keep the flight on a flexible day so it can move.

No. It is booked with the operator and paid there, once the weather and the site are confirmed.
