What affects the airport to Dal Lake fare?
The airport has a prepaid taxi counter. We still send our own car when the transfer is part of a tour, because the same driver can collect you for Gulmarg the next morning. We do not invent a rupee figure here. Ask and you get one for your flight.
- Vehicle type. A sedan and a Tempo are not the same job
- Time. A 2 am landing is a different shift from a noon arrival
- Where on the lake you stop. A Boulevard hotel is direct. A far ghat can need a shikara and a porter
- Waiting if the flight is very late. Share the flight number and the wait is part of the booking, within what the quote says
- Extra stops, such as a chemist or a SIM shop, if you add them on the spot
How do you book the airport pickup?
- Send the flight number, landing time, hotel or houseboat name, and how many bags.
- We reply with the vehicle and the price for that hop, or for the hop plus the rest of the tour.
- On the day, the driver waits after baggage claim with a board that says your name or D2 Holidays.
- If you are on a houseboat, he drops you at the agreed ghat and the shikara does the last bit.
